How to hydrate

… BASICALLY – WITH WATER. W.A.T.E.R. We really don’t need anything else and before you say “I don’t like water” please realise “like” is just an attitude and you can change attitudes like any other habit. The fact is we didn’t used to have any other option except water and without it we die. Still not satisfied with water? OK – add some fresh fruit and ice to your water to make it more enjoyable. For males try to get 300ml per ten kilograms of bodyweight and females should take 350ml of water per ten kilograms of bodyweight. I can go ahead and list all of the benefits of water….

…. but I’m not going to – you can Google them if you like but before you do this ask your intuition if it makes sense to stay well hydrated for better health and fitness? Clue = our body can be made of up to 80% water. Top tips = Reduce headaches. Improve metabolism and fat loss and health and energy.

Glass or steel bottles are better for your health and the environment. We don’t need to pollute the earth or our bodies with plastic. It saves you money and health to have a reusable glass or steel bottle.

A good strategy to get enough water (and know how much you are getting) is to have a large drink bottle (thus saving you time on re-fills and its easier to count up to 3 big bottles per day than 7 little ones)

Many people believe that drinking water causes fluid retention. In fact, the opposite is true. Drinking water helps the body rid itself of excess sodium, which results in less fluid retention. The body will retain fluid if there is too little water in the cells. If the body receives enough water on a regular basis, there will be no need for it to conserve water and this will reduce fluid retention.
